[ THE WAY I HAD YOUR PC OPEN IN A TAB ON MY DESKTOP AND NEVER TOUCHED IT SEND HELP
hello sweet girl.... on this fine (?) culty monday, asa can find rondo outside of the cabin area! he's sitting plopped on the ground with a big old sword in his lap, and he's cutting up - what looks like the remains of one of those white robes, into strips.
he looks up! and when he sees asa, he immediately smiles and waves. sunshine. ]
Good morning, Miss Asa! Were you able to get settled into the cabin alright?
[ there's a little ink patch on the front patch of his cloak, that casually spells out the words - Not realizing sooner. ]
he is so high energy and she is so baffled by this, tbh. she nods at him, eyes darting momentarily to that patch of ink and then back to meet his gaze. she has yet to notice the smudged writing on the side of her neck, however, but rondo can see what it says from this angle:
[ rondo is in fact high energy. he is just pure sunshine. but, ah... he does notice the ink on his end, but he does the exact same thing - looks at it, then immediately brings his eyes back to her face, like a nice and polite boy. ]
Mm... I think we're sort of the lucky ones, right? At least we don't have to sleep in coffins... And everyone seems to be very nice - and dedicated to making the space a little brighter, too.
Would you like to come sit for a little while? I wouldn't mind the company.
Right. I don't think I could stay there if any of them were the type to leave a mess behind for someone else to deal with. Some of the other people in this town are way too inconsiderate.
[whoever spilled that grape juice the other day... you are her enemy.]
... Sure. It's not like I have anywhere else to be.
[ i'm really glad asa ended up in team disney princess chore cabin for this reason alone.
he smiles at her when she agrees and scoots over, patting the spot next to him! ]
Hehe, good. [ yay company ] Don't worry! I think our group will be just fine.
Since we're living together, we all should get to know each other too, right? Circumstances aside, sharing a space with someone is a little different than just being in the same place.
[ i mean, yeah, generally being told you're gonna be a sacrifice is not great for friendship morale. unless you are rondo redacted, certified protagonist. he looks down at the robe he's cutting, a little more thoughtfully. ]
Mmm... I don't know about that. I think it might be to our benefit. The bonds of those we're close to can help us in times of need. [ things he says with his whole chest, but it's true. after all, his bond with the ringbearer chosen was part of what's helped him through some of his most difficult days as of late. ] We ought to not just be able to work together, but to be able to lean on each other, too.
I think I'd say it even more if something bad did happen.
[ the amount of Conviction ] Or - I guess, if or when it does. Those times are the ones when you need to rely on people the most. I've had plenty of bad things happen to me, and those are always the moments when I'm happiest to have people to lean on.
[ asa can see the ink on his chest shifts, a little - forming this time just one word. Sazantos. ]
[he has so much conviction and she thinks that he is, quite frankly, a little delusional. she stays quiet for a moment, idly scratching at her leg where the words couldn't stop her only friend from becoming a devil have appeared.]
[ the words conviction and delusional both appear in my app so she's not wrong ]
Heh. I wouldn't be much of a knight if I let that stop me. [ he seems happy that she accepts it - smiling a little further. his eyes do flick down to the ink spot but he almost immediately looks away, though it's not fast enough to hide the look on his face. it's something vulnerable and... something empathetic, maybe, something familiar.
absently, he reaches up to touch his own, fingertips brushing against the familiar syllables of a name.
and then!! rondo brightens up, clearing his throat. ]
...So!! Tell me a little bit about your life, Miss Asa! Do you also go to [ airquotes ] "public schooling?"
wouldn't say she's accepted it, exactly. but more that she knows some people will truly just truck on with the power of friendship and brute force, so she might as well just resign herself to it. again.]
Huh? [giving him a weird look.] Yes, I go to school. But why are you saying it like that?
Miss Ashlyn said that was pretty normal, but we don't have anything like it.
[ oh to be from the 1600s ]
I only had private tutoring when I was growing up, and the Royal Academy of Atlasdam is where all the scholars study, and... that's pretty much it. I'm still learning a lot about what life is like for everyone else.
No, only the wealthy really get get schooling. At least that's how it is in Edoras - though, I think that'll change soon, with the new Queen. [ we love you richarles wife ♥ ]
I think it's pretty wonderful, though. And the technology! There's so much I haven't learned of yet.
Well, it's good things will change soon. [get! your! education!] What technology are you talking about, exactly...? This whole town feels pretty backwater.

I can't complain, since we each have our bed.

I guess... [frowning.] It's not like we need to be friends to work together effectively, though.

[ a beat. ]
But... I'd like to be friends with you, Miss Asa.

I don't think that's a good idea. Not in a situation like this.
